Telegram’s Blockchain Will Be Compatible With Ethereum

On Sunday, 1 September, the messaging company is expected to release a code in the Telegram Open Network (TON) to enable users to try the project before its official launch planned for 31 October 2019.

Tech startup TON Labs has created a number of tools for developers to help them build on the new network. One of these tools will be a Solidity compiler, which will make it possible to launch decentralized applications built for Ethereum even on TON, said Alexander Filatov, CEO of TON Labs.

Filatov said: “That was probably the most difficult thing we built. It will allow the advanced Ethereum community to pull everything they wrote for Ethereum into TON.” He noted that the compiler has been in testing since July.

As mentioned above, the project is to be launched on 31 October. Therefore, the release planned for the first Sunday of September is expected to be the last one in the series of testnet releases. Filatov said that this code release would be the most important stage in the market launch of the TON product because, later, there wouldn’t be much time to test, identify and fix any bugs.

In 2018, Telegram raised at least USD 1.7 billion for its much-anticipated blockchain. The company, providing messaging services for 6 years now, claims to have over 200 million active users
