On 21 October, Bitmain, one of the most influential companies in the crypto world, revealed that, together with two other companies, it had completed the world’s largest mining facility. This leading manufacturer of mining facilities decided to open it in Rockdale, Texas, USA. It was helped mainly by Canadian technology firm DMG Blockchain Solutions and the local Rockdale Municipal Development District.

Despite being the largest mining facility in the world, it is not all about crypto mining only. In the early stage of the project, Bitmain undertook to create some 400 local jobs in the first two years and invest USD500 million to the entire project over a period of seven years.

These statements first appeared already in August 2018 when the plans of this project were officially published. Since then, Bitmain managed to complete a 50MW mining facility together with its partners. It's not all though. By time, the total capacity could reach 300MW.

To develop this project, and for electricity to the facility, it will be using mainly local firms and local workforce. It has already entered into an agreement for close collaboration in electricity supply for example with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which has one of its centres in Rockdale.

In addition, the whole project will support development in Rockdale also by educational programs on blockchain technology and crypto mining. This is to be achieved in the form of various courses or training centres in schools and companies in the region.

Clinton Brown, the lead project manager, said at the official launch of the project that this mining facility was important for Bitmain's global expansion. Also, he appreciated their collaboration with ERCOT that ensured stable electricity supply to help the mining facility grow.
