Blockchain instead of bribery in Ukraine

Vladimir Zelenskiy, a new president of Ukraine, promises to reform how the whole state works. Blockchain-based solutions may remedy drawbacks of public finance.

The goal is to create a state in your smartphone. Competent persons proclaim, that in cooperation with experts they managed to develop the foundations of a new digital state strategy. A recipe for success should be consistent digitization, where a pilot project is tested in one area. Errors should be fixed and details polished on small projects first, which in turn allows to build up on gained experience in bigger projects. Culmination of such an approach may be digital voting system build on blockchain.

Ukraine is not a novice when it comes to cryptocurrencies. Authorities reconsidered former suggestion to accept direct payments in bitcoin to pay for public transportation. Also, it is a home to several various organizations, which make efforts to propagate crypto. Even the previous government administration pledged to develop full legislative framework for cryptocurrencies by 2021.

Blockchain technology, as a distributed public ledger, can serve as a simple method to control transactions and amounts of means in public finance. The riddle is, can a newly elected president apply this technology into reality, in a country like Ukraine?
