One dollar, or one bitcoin?

A recent interview at Colorado university showed the real awareness about cryptocurrencies among american university students. As you might guess, financial literacy of the majority of the students is low in crypto sector.

Almost every single student immediately preferred the dollar to bitcoin, without any hesitation. The major reason for that is its large acceptance, as a tool for value exchange with a stabile exchange rate and high liquidity level.

“I’m hungry and I can buy something from the vending machine with a dollar.” said one of the students. Another underlined, that bitcoin is protected by “something like a password” and if you lose it, you lose all your bitcoins.

When youtuber explained, how much bitcoin is worth - more than $5 500, majority of the students quickly got it, changed their mind and switched their answers to bitcoin. However, it was exactly this moment that revealed they didn't know how exactly to accept bitcoin payments or how to exchange it for USD.

To conclude, Bitcoin awareness and capabilities are quite unknown among the younger generation. Although the interview was conducted on a small sample of university students, the lack of basic information about the topic was immediate.
