iPhone with its own crypto wallet

Apple has announced new “crypto package” for iOS 13, which suggests full compatibility of iPhones to handle cryptocurrencies on a daily basis. New iPhone's functionalities can soon provide smooth and secure payments in crypto for all its users.

All eyes are now on the software update iOS 13, which comes with Apple's new CryptoKit for fundamental usage of cryptocurrencies. According to Apple, CryptoKit will provide framework for developers for cryptographic functionality. It will allow operations such as hashing, key generation and encryption to be in iOS apps.

Apple focuses on security first and that's why it will allow for developers to use Apple's Secure Enclave to store public address and private key, needed to send and accept payments in cryptocurrencies. With such an equipment it will soon be able to transact e.g. bitcoin quickly and comfortably through iPhone and without fears regarding security concerns.

Founder of Trust Wallet, Viktor Radchenko, wrote on Twitter, iPhones are just a few steps away before you can turn them into a hardware wallet.

It seems, Apple follows Samsung's steps, that decided to incorporate cryptocurrencies to its mobile devices. In february this year, Samsung equipped its flagship smartphone S10 with a wallet, which can store its user's keys.

Samsung is strong Apple's rival and it was just a matter of time for iPhones to start supporting cryptocurrencies. According to unofficial information, Samsung could be working on implementing cryptocurrencies directly to Samsung Pay and therefore Apple cannot afford being behind its competition. However, it's still too early to speculate whether these functionalities would be implemented into Apple Pay, but we are certainly a step closer now.
