Russia Might Allow Cryptocurrency Trading

The Russian Ministry of Finance is considering allowing cryptocurrency trading. Deputy Finance Minister Alexej Moiseyev said allowing trading with cryptocurrencies may find its way to the forthcoming bill.

The bill prohibiting the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment in the Russian Federation was passed in May last year.

Anatolij Aksakov, Chairman of the Committee on Financial Markets of the Duma, pointed out that the Finance Action Team had recommended Russia to pass the bill by the end of this year. The parliament is expected to pass the three main points of the bill on digital financial assets in the coming two weeks.
