The Dollar Wrecking Ball: Why is a strong US dollar so dangerous?
The rising US dollar strength is starting to produce cracks across economies and markets.
WikiLeaks, an organization dedicated to uncovering classified documents, may own about 4,054 BTC, which currently stands at about $ 46.2 million.
Much of this amount could come from supporters of WikiLeaks who sympathize with the idea of uncovering secrets of governments. According to Bitcoinist magazine, in 2016, the total value of all BTC resources that WikiLeaks received was $ 22 million.
Whether WikiLeaks still has a significant portion of these funds is unknown. Given the nature of WikiLeaks operations, it is likely that they have already spent a significant amount on legal fees or disclosure of secret information. However, it is also possible that WikiLeaks has moved part of the funds raised to other wallets.
WikiLeaks reportedly created its first BTC wallet in the middle of June 2011 but may have started using bitcoins much earlier.
